Stay Safe When Using Free AI Tools – Protect
Confidential Information
San Antonio College Employees,
As Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools like ChatGPT, Copilot,
Gemini, and others become more popular and accessible, using them responsibly,
especially when protecting sensitive and confidential information, is essential.
Please keep the following in mind when using any
AI-powered generative tool:
- Do
not enter confidential, sensitive, or personal data (such as student
records and Banner ID, employee Name or details, internal documents, or
proprietary information).
- These
tools often store and analyze input to improve their services, and the data
entered may not be private or secure.
- Use AI
tools only on public or non-sensitive tasks (e.g., idea generation,
general writing support, summarizing non-confidential content).
- Always
follow our Alamo
Colleges Appropriate Use Policy and Procedure.
We support AI's safe and thoughtful use to enhance
productivity and innovation. Please check with the Office of Technology
Services if you’re unsure whether something is safe to share.
Let’s stay informed and cautious while exploring the
potential of AI. Visit our IT
Security Hub for additional resources and information.
Thank you!
