SPAM is unsolicited bulk email messages, especially advertising, sent without consent and an established business relationship. The State of Texas statutes define SPAM as “unsolicited commercial electronic mail messages.” Although the Information Technology Services Department is responsible for helping ensure email availability and security of email systems, information, and records, it cannot guarantee the complete infallibility or security of network and computer systems from unauthorized intrusion, SPAM, phishing, malware, or other type of electronic compromise or attack.
