IT Security Incident Reporting

Service Description:
Information security incidents and remediation costs will continue to threaten organizations now and in the future. These incidents can occur without notice because security defenses cannot completely guarantee ultimate security.  Therefore, it is critical that an effective and efficient incident management program is in place to quickly resolve or minimize the disruption of information services, loss of reputation, penalties, financial loss and/or impairment of data integrity or availability.

In order to help resolve specific incidents relative to computer security, the Alamo Colleges District Information Technology Services (ITS) Risk and Security Office will serve as a consultant and will seek advice from appropriate Alamo Colleges key personnel such as ITS Executive and Senior Management, Human Resources, Communications, Office of Legal Services, Campus Police, Internal Audit and other Subject Matter Experts as deemed necessary.
 
Alamo Colleges and District IT departments shall establish incident prevention safeguards and response protocols to manage both site level and enterprise wide adverse information security incidents.  In some instances, incident response protocols will involve many individuals and multiple sites during the course of resolving an active incident.  In other instances, incident response protocols will involve limited personnel and will be managed on a need-to-know basis.

How to access services (Procedures if Any):
Users of Alamo Colleges’ information technology resources shall immediately report actual or suspected security related incidents, e.g., misuse of systems, or loss/damage/theft or unauthorized access or attempts to access information, to their supervisor or to a College District Administrator, the ITS Department, the Alamo Colleges Police Department or any other designated incident reporting protocol.
