Turnitin is an evaluation and plagiarism detection tool for student submissions. It includes originality checking, peer review capabilities, and grading assistance. It can be used as a standalone product or via the Canvas integration.

How to access services (Procedures if Any):
Turnitin can be fully integrated within your Canvas courses. To access, when creating a new assignment, under Submission Type > External Tool Option, click on the Find button and scroll through the drop-down menu. This drop-down menu is in alphabetical order so Turnitin will be located towards the bottom. Once found, click on Turnitin LTI. Your new assingment will now have Turnitin integrated and each student's work will now be evaluated.

How do I create a Turnitin assignment?

The colored square indicating the overall similarity of a paper will be one of these five basic colors: red, orange, yellow, green, or blue. Each color represents how much of an assignment matches something already in the Turnitin database.
Red indicates 75% - 100% of the assignment matches material already found in the Turnitin database.
Orange indicates 50% - 74% of the assignment matches material already found in the Turnitin database.
Yellow indicates 25% - 49% of the assignment matches material already found in the Turnitin database.
Green indicates 0% - 24% of the assignment matches material already found in the Turnitin database.
Blue indicates less than 20 words in the assignment matches material already found in the Turnitin database.
