Backup of Personal Data

Service Description:

To prevent data loss, it is important to backup personal computer data.  Individual workstations, laptops and mobile device data outside of our Alamo Colleges Data Center are not centrally backed up.

To backup your office computer data, use a physical backup option such as USB drive, external hard drive, CD rewritable disc, etc.  The physical backup device option will depend on the amount of data you wish to save.  SAC employees have the option to save to their home directory on the SAC network file share.  Alamo Colleges students with college email also receive a One Drive option including 15 GB of free online data storage; this can be a convenient option to allow students to access data from anywhere, anytime. 

For your personal data, you can also use a cloud storage option, such as Dropbox, Google Drive, Carbonite etc.  Each solution has different options including pricing and data limits.

are available for employees within Sharepoint and by selecting the Office of Technology Services > Policies and Procedures link on the left navigation bar.
