Micronaut™ Missions

Service Description: Shortly after opening the new Challenger Learning Center in 2014, a contract with the City of San Antonio's Department of Human Service for area HeadStart classes was entered for Micronaut™ missions.  For grades PK-2, the Micronaut™ Simulated Mission starts in the briefing room and launches in our Lockheed-Martin Orion spacecraft for a docking with the International Space Station.  Our young scientists, engineers, and mathematicians are engaged in a variety of hands on experiments and activities as they simulate traveling 230 miles above the Earth's surface.  Some of the activities our Micronauts include; studying the solar system and stars, building simple machines, rockets, satellites, use robotic arms, scientists as they experiment, use glove boxes and microscopes.
In the late spring of 2022, the Santikos Micronaut Center will be cleared for launch with a next generation early childhood immersive experience.  Look to the social media and web sites for the up-to-date information on this new San Antonio STEAM resource.
