Banner Access

Service Description:
Banner is the administrative software used by Alamo Colleges. Banner consists of various integrated modules which share a common database.  The modules used include:  Finance (general ledgers, accounts receivable, accounts payable, etc.), Financial Aid (student financial aid awards), Human Resources (employee records, salaries, etc.) and Student (admissions, registration, etc.).

24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Excluding emergency system maintenance time frames.

How to access services (Procedures if Any):

Banner Student System Access

The Banner System Access Request form is to be completed for all Banner access changes, including requests for new user accounts, changes to access under existing accounts, and account deletions.

Requirements for an Alamo College Employee:

All personnel requesting access must take the following banner training before access request is initiated:

    Maintenance Role:  On-Line Navigation Training through AlamoTalent and training given by a Super User 

    Query Role:  On-Line Navigation Training through AlamoTalent

    Banner Access Request Form submitted through and approved by:

      Supervisor

      CE CSI- Coordinator of Workforce Education (for CE Roles only)

      Vice President of Student Services (VPSS)

      CSI- Security Point of Contact (POC) on behalf of Associate Vice Chancellor and CSI Director

Requirements for a Non-Alamo College Employee (Check with IT and definition): 

    All personnel requesting access must take the following banner training before access request is initiated:

    Maintenance Role:  Banner 8 Fundamentals (CBT) through ACES and training given by a Super User

    Query Role:  Banner  Fundamentals (CBT) through ACES

    Fill out a Non-Employee Computer Security Agreement and Submit to security@alamo.edu

    Submit a Group or Guest Email/Active Directory Account Request (used for Non-Employees).

    Banner Access Request Form submitted through and approved by:

      Supervisor

      CE CSI- Coordinator of Workforce Education (for CE Roles only)

      Vice President of Student Services (VPSS)

      CSI- Security Point of Contact (POC) on behalf of Associate Vice Chancellor and CSI Director

Requesting Access to Banner Student System

1.Training completion certificate for On-Line Navigation Training and or Super User confirmation of training must accompany access request form.

If current Alamo College employee, skip numbers 3-4.

2. Submit a Non-Employee Computer Security Agreement form to District IT Risk/Security Office (Security@alamo.edu).

3. Submit a Group or Guest Email/Active Directory Account Request (used for Non-Employees).

Banner Access Request Form submitted by employee or supervisor.  For assistance with filling out Banner Access Request Form reference Banner (INB) User Access Process and Procedures , (B) Detail, pages 8-12.

If submitted by employee, send Banner Access Request Form to employee Supervisor for Approval.

Supervisor forwards Banner Access Request Form to VPSS for approval.

VPSS will forward to District IT Risk/Security Office (security@alamo.edu)

Routed to _CSI- Security POC by District IT Risk/Security Office to obtain Data Owner approvals_.

Returned to District IT Risk/Security Office (security@alamo.edu)

Notification sent to _CSI- Security POC of completion.

CSI- Security POC forwards notification to supervisors and requestor of completion.

Services can be requested through the web by visiting http://www.alamo.edu/district/banner-links/ ,and clicking on “Production Database [PROD]—Banner 9 ”.    Banner training is required before access to Banner is granted.   VPN access is needed in order to access Banner outside of the Alamo network.

Additional Information:
The Banner Fundamentals training can be accessed from your ACES account under the Employee tab.  You will need this training prior to receiving access to the Banner system.  To obtain access, submit the Banner Access Request Form 3.05 to security@alamo.edu.
